so I was reading '60 things we wish guys knew...' on facebook and, seriously, I just don't get it. they were all hypocritical things that unintentionally degraded girls everywhere. I don't understand how so many girls want guys to know that they're weak and insecure, which was basically what most of these boiled down to. I mean they didn't exactly say that in so many words, but things like 'we'll freak out if you don't text us once a day'? why would you WANT a guy to know that you cling to his every word? not only is that creepy, it's also demeaning.

the other side of this was the 'guys should worship the very ground we walk on' sort of approach. what the hell? you were just talking about how weak you were, and now suddenly you expect guys to think you're some kind of goddess? who's going to respect a girl who doesn't act like she deserves it in the first place?

and then, of course, a bunch of them were sappy stuff about falling in 'love', which I can't even comment on since I've never been close. but I will say that hearts breaking into a thousand pieces is such a cliche.

maybe it's just me, but I don't understand girls. and I am a girl! I just can't see how you would want to flaunt your own helplessness like it's something to be proud of. I thought we were over the damsel-in-distress waits for her knight-in-shining-armor stuff by the third grade. everyone subscribes to some form of hypocrisy but this kind of thing is just delusion.
